Make your next getaway a destination on the fringe! Join host Katie DeTar to discover unique destinations, outdoor adventure, historic sights, and local flavors found in and around American cities. Each episode begins city center, showcasing downtown. Then, Katie moves out to explore nearby villages, scenic highlights, unique shopping, local foods, and relaxing getaways found just on the fringe of the featured city. Katie seeks out a new region for every episode, presenting endless opportunities to discover great ideas for day trips and weekend getaways. This unique series appeals to our inner explorer!

It's all about horses as Katie learns the history of the Kentucky Derby and takes a riding lesson from a local pro. Then we head out in nature to explore one of the largest arboretums and forest preserves in the region - and see the "Kentucky Knobs." Just east of the city, we explore Bardstown, home of "My Old Kentucky Home" and the center of bourbon distilling. Later on, we head just north of Louisville, into southern Indiana, for an impressive tour of the giant, underground Squire Boone Caverns.

We start our journey in Lewisburg - a historic and dynamic small town with a big city feel. Then, we meet craftspeople who've been crafting hand-blown art pieces for more than 100 years. Later on, Katie gets outdoors and into nature with a kayak trip and a visit to the New River Gorge, before ending our tour by tasting unique and delicious local sea salt, sourced from an underground ancient ocean.
