About the Show

Shooting an episode of MIH: TeenStyleThey’re in school all day, but once the bell rings teenagers disperse to every kind of job imaginable. They wash dishes, they’re assistant instructors. They’re even running businesses. Welcome to Making It Here: TeenStyle, WGBY’s weekly show about the teens of Western New England, and the work they’re doing everyday.

Each show includes interviews with three teens who explain their jobs, how they landed the work, and what their primary responsibilities are. The show also features a Business 411 segment, in which area business leaders share advice about getting started on a career path. Next up, the How Did U Get That Job segment cuts right to the core of how to land a fabulous, high profile job (i.e. forensic scientist or television meteorologist.).  The show concludes with Back Stage Pass,” which features local rock & jazz bands, dancers, flutists, drummers, rappers, and a cappella groups, just to name a few.

The show is hosted by Longmeadow’s Shelby LeShine, and co-host Donnelle Tennyson of Springfield. Making It Here: TeenStyle is shot entirely in high-definition television, which offers razor-sharp images of the people, performers and places the show visits.

Executive producer, Lynn Page, said, “TeenStyle has become one of WGBY’s most successful local series. And it’s not just teens watching the show; we hear from plenty of adults across the region who are impressed by what they see in the local teens we profile: a motivation and entrepreneurship that’s rarely covered in the media.” She continued, “And now it’s gone beyond just being good television; we’ve learned that the show has become a tool that some organizations are using in their work with at-risk teens, and the companion website offers resources to help teens get their first jobs and career tips from some the region’s leading entrepreneurs.”

Making It Here: TeenStyle airs Monday nights at 7:30. Check WGBY’s program schedule page for all broadcast times. TeenStyle can also be seen on Video On Demand, where available.
