Making It Here

Where are they now?

Curious about some of our past seasons' guests and finding out what happened to them and their businesses? Here are a few updates, stay tuned for more as we get them!

Mapleline Farm

This one of the first businesses we featured on Making It Here.  Mapleline Farm began home delivery of its milk and dairy products in 2001. We met up with Paul Kokoski early one October morning about 4:30am and followed him on his route through Northampton and Easthampton.  The segment consisted of interviews with Paul and his dad John.  Since we aired that segment Paul and his wife Tami have increased the home delivery business to around 650 customers and wholesale has grown to around 125.  They bought the milk plant that was bottling their milk and moved it to their farm in Hadley.  They have built a new barn for 115 cows and a new milking facility.  They are now in the process of planning a methane digester to produce electricity.  The farm is located at 63 Comins Rd in Hadley MA.

Eddies Wheels

We meet a lot of special people while filming the Making It Here program but the folks at Eddies Wheels in Shelburne Falls certainly rank high on our list.  The crew visited Eddie & Leslie Grinnell, owners of Eddies Wheels in 2003 to see how this couple started the business of making mobility carts for dogs. We filmed in their shop and watched these carts being assembled.  Since then, their business has grown by word-of-mouth, through online support groups, satisfied customers, and the recommendations of animal professionals. On June 1, 2005, having completely renovated their new building, they moved their business to 140 State St., Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.

Sonam Lama

Sonam Lama is a Tibetan Trained Stonemason, he has been practicing his craft in this country since 1984. Making It Here host George Murphy and the crew visited Sonam in April of 2006.  At that point Sonam was constructing a wall and Monument around his property in South Deerfield. Today that project is complete and Sonam is continuing to work as a Stone Mason all around the Valley and beyond doing projects for Mary Travers of Peter Paul and Mary, NASA Astronaut Dan Barry and actor Richard Gere.
