Western
New England has a rich literary
tradition, from the writings of Herman
Melville who penned Moby Dick while living in
the hills of Berkshire County, to the poetry of
Amherst's Emily Dickinson.
Children have also
delighted in the unique works of Theodor
Geisel, best known as Dr. Seuss, and the
whimsical art of illustrator Eric Carle.
That
tradition lives on in a lengthy list of
contemporary authors and illustrators who
continue to entertain and inspire. The wealth of
compelling guests for a program about authors
and illustrators and their craft is nearly limitless.
Host
Elinor
Lipman is
the author
of the
critically
acclaimed
novels The
Pursuit of Alice Thrift, The Dearly
Departed, The Ladies’ Man, The
Inn at Lake Devine, Isabel’s Bed,
The Way Men Act, Then She
Found Me, and a collection of
stories, Into Love and Out Again.
Houghton Mifflin will publish her
eighth novel, My Latest Grievance,
in April, 2006.
After production of a pilot episode, WGBY is currently seeking funding
