How Does the Field Trip Work? The Source to the Sea virtual field trip is designed to give you a sense of the Connecticut River Watershed from the headwaters of the Connecticut River in Pittsburg, New Hampshire near the Canadian border to the mouth of the river in Old Saybrook and Old Lyme, Connecticut where it meets Long Island Sound. Although designed for K-12 teachers and students, the field trip should be useful to anyone interested in learning about the Connecticut River Watershed. The field trip includes a variety of information and gives you access, through electronic links, to related resources within and beyond the Connecticut River Education Initiative (CREI) Web site. The nice part about this field trip is that you can decide where you want to go, when you want to go, and how long you want to stay there. You will find that the watershed has been divided into four geographic regions in the field trip: Northern Forest | Upper Valley | Central Watershed | Tidelands Within each of these regional sections, you can access information in four general topic areas: Habitat | Science & Technology | Arts & Culture | History You'll find links in these topic areas to additional resources on the CREI Web site and beyond. Teachers: There is a section of the field trip provided for teachers which includes technical information about the field trip as well as lesson plans for each of the topic areas in each geographic region. Click on Teacher's Guide to access this information.
