WGBY – TV PROGRAMMING INTERNSHIP
Spring Session 2007
The programming internship is an unpaid internship, with WGBY’s
Programming Department. Interns experience, first-hand, the operations
of a local PBS broadcast facility. The internship is open to students
and individuals thinking about a career in Public Television.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Programming interns act as assistants to producers, who are responsible
for producing all of WGBY’s local programs. Typical assignments
include project research, assisting with studio and field shoots,
tape logging, operating computer teleprompter, receiving studio
guests,
correspondence and clerical duties.
- Interns must have good organizational,
writing and computer skills and be able to work independently.
Interns work on a variety
of WGBY productions including: weekly public affairs programs, documentaries,
cooking shows, and magazine style programs.
- The Programming Department
accepts both full and part-time interns. Part-time interns are
expected to work at least 20 hours per
week. Work hours are generally 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, although hours
may vary during live productions and on-air fund drives.
- Must
have the physical ability to lift 50 pounds of equipment, sufficient
mobility to climb ladders and jack lifters.
- Must have correctable vision & hearing.
- Must be 18 years of
age or older.
